In the last five years or so, I have been helping people find jobs. I’m not sure how it started. I guess I’ve just always been good at connecting people, and I love doing so! It is interesting to reflect on the process now that I am looking myself. In many cases, the people I was helping were let go from their previous position for whatever reason. The mixture of emotions was clear. They were anxious to find the next opportunity, but they were also excited to try something new.
Change is something I embrace; in fact, I crave it. And yes, I drive my husband crazy with all of the changes I’ve made over the years, but he always said, “as long as you don’t change husbands!” In the grand scheme of things, if you aren’t changing, you aren’t growing. And if we want to be the best versions of ourselves, growing seems the best way to go.
Have you ever felt stagnant at your job? Has your personal life ever felt boring? These are subtle hints that you need some change in your life. Of course, there are drastic life events too – divorce, death, job loss, accidents. These literally force you to change. In either case, I believe the universe has a plan for us. In my case, I believe God has a plan for me (and you). And this plan unfolds over time, with moments of change and growth.
When you look at it that way, change doesn’t seem all that scary. Take those subtle hints and think about it. Perhaps take it slow, and try a new activity, or ask for a challenging assignment at work. The subtle hints, small changes and sometimes drastic life events keep us all on the right path for us. The cool part is that this path doesn’t have to be crowded. In fact, as individuals with unique gifts and talents, we each have our own path to follow. Embrace your unique gifts and talents, change and grow to better yourself and others. Enjoy today and what it brings!
